About Cassandra Bot
My paintings are a reflection of moments, experiences and emotions. Abstract art allows me the freedom to express myself best. I only decide which colours to use, that reflect my emotions at that time. For emotions have no shape, I choose to let the knife, brush, colour, material and structure to speak for itself.
Except for the ground layer(s), I preferably finish a painting at once. It’s at that time I have a certain feeling which can not be reproduced. Therefore abstract to me is nothing like meaningless or without feeling. This can result in not painting for months next to creating a couple of paintings the next month.
At first I thought my paintings were too personal, too abstract and of little meaning to others. Instead, the last couple of years and after a number of exhibitions I started realising a lot of people find my work appealing. Mainly because the degree of abstraction inspires them to come up with their own interpretations. This for me is reason enough to continue to exhibit and sell my work.
I take it as a compliment when others appear to enjoy my art. For now, my work already has found it’s way to several (living)rooms and I have to admit it makes me proud, though still surprised. Apparently my paintings do get to others and their emotions, which to me is a big compliment.
I have named them all with the emotion that comes closest to my experience at that time. Most of my paintings I have signed with three little dots.
Sensations, emotions and experiences are very personal, so feel free to come up with your own experience when looking at my work.
Enjoy!
